About CollECTeR
CollECTeR (Collaborative Electronic Commerce Technology and Research) is a joint venture by more than 25 universities around the world which, through a loose federation of research centres - one located at each institution - provides both depth and breadth of expertise in Electronic Commerce.
CollECTeR had its genesis in a workshop (PAWEC'97) held as part of the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS'97) held in Brisbane, Australia in 1997. Although the prime role of CollECTeR centres is to undertake research and consultancy both individually and as a network, the workshop/conference theme has continued to be an important part of the CollECTeR initiative since Brisbane and by the end of 2003, ten further CollECTeR conferences and workshops had been held around the world – in Australia, Chile, France, Ireland, New Zealand and the United States.
CollECTeR 2004
The Twelfth CollECTeR
Workshop on Electronic Commerce will be held on Friday/Saturday May 7/8 2004 at
the City West Campus of the University of South Australia. This workshop is designed to be an
interactive experience – an expert discussant will be assigned to each paper who
will be asked firstly to respond directly to the paper, then to facilitate
broad-ranging and extensive discussion. In the workshop spirit, ample time will
be made available to allow for a full exploration of the ideas contained within,
and the implications of, each paper – and, where appropriate, for
discussion on methodological issues arising from the research. As a consequence, researcher supervisors
may consider that this workshop is an especially useful venue for papers arising
from doctoral/post-graduate research projects. The Programme Committee actively seeks
papers describing novel, radical and, indeed, controversial ideas – papers may
describe either competed research or work in progress.
The highlighted topic
area for CollECTeR 2004 is “The
Individual and Communications and IT-based systems”, for
example:
·
eHealth and Social
Services
·
location-based/location-sensitive
information
·
eShopping /
eTailing
· digital content
· eMarkets / virtual communities
·
nomadic/pervasive/mobile computing
The workshop is, however, intended to attract researchers interested in all aspects of eCommerce and pervasive CIT-based systems and papers relating to other aspects of eCommerce/eBusiness are also most welcome.
Researchers are encouraged to submit either "work in progress" papers (around 3,000 words), or full papers on completed research (around 5,000 words). Papers should be original and not previously published. All papers will be double-blind-reviewed by two members of the Programme Committee, experienced researchers with extensive expertise in the area. Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings, which will be available, in CD-ROM format, at the Conference itself; and from the CollECTeR web site, http://www.collecter.org/. Additional copies of the Proceedings on CD-ROM will also be available for purchase. Authors will be required to transfer a non-exclusive right to publish the paper in any form (including CD-ROM, digital archives, WWW and paper forms) but this does not preclude the authors from later publication of the paper elsewhere.
Five best papers from CollECTeR2004 will be selected for publication in an issue of the Australian Journal of Information System.
